We’re all about helping you live your best life, in every way possible! So we thought we’d take the chance to share some of the tips we’ve learnt from juggling so many different things in our lives. From running a business to working additional side projects and managing our team, life can certainly get busy. Here are our 5 top tips that help us stay sane. We hope they help you embrace better organisation in your own life – whether you’re at uni, working full time, or starting a business of your own!
Make your Calendar your Bible
We love having a wall calendar in the office as it helps the whole team have a visual timetable to work to. But whether you prefer a digital calendar, a paper diary or something else entirely, the most important thing is to commit to your chosen calendar tool. Write down appointments as soon as you make them (never leave this to later as there is always a chance you will forget!). Check in at the beginning of each week to review your schedule and make sure you’re prepared for the week ahead. That way there can never be any last minute surprises.
Write it down
Organised people make notes! So get in the habit of taking a pen and a notepad wherever you go. You never know when you will need to write yourself a reminder or jot down ideas and inspirations. While we’re on the topic, we’re a huge fan of keeping a to-do list. It’s a great way to organise your priorities, differentiating between urgent tasks and things that can wait until later.
Set a Morning Routine
We’re so interested in the routines and habits of successful people. One thing we noticed is that high-performers tend to make the most of their mornings. For many people, the first couple of hours in the day are the most productive, so why not try getting up a little earlier and making the most of this time? There are plenty of things you can do to make your mornings more productive, including starting the day with a workout and a proper breakfast. If you struggle to get out of bed early, there are some tricks you can do to make life easier. For example, get your outfit ready the night before (both workout and work clothes) and prep an easy breakfast, like overnight oats or a smoothie.
Use Emails More Effectively
How many emails do you have sitting in your inbox right now? 100? 1000? More? We’re big fans of using folders to organise our emails, keeping our main inbox clear. If you’re not sure where to start, sit down and make a list of the main areas of responsibility in your life, for example family, uni, work etc. You can even make sub-folders within the main categories. Once you start using this filing system, not only will it be easier to find important emails, you’ll be able to tackle new emails more easily. While we’re on the topic, don’t use your inbox as your to-do list. Either delete or action an email straight away, rather than leave it languishing. It might also help to set yourself a dedicated time each day to action emails, rather than letting them distract you all day long, so turn off your notifications.
If you haven’t already, check out Marie Kondo’s The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up. We love her philosophy of keeping it simple. When your home space is clutter-free and organised, you will feel like you can achieve anything! Around once every 3 months, we love having a big clear out of our homes, donating anything we no longer need to charity.
One thing that really helps us is having a dedicated space for every object in our home, using storage solutions to keep similar items together. Drawer dividers and boxes are great for keeping smaller items from getting mixed together. And of course, tackle your wardrobe. It’s amazing how much time you will save getting ready each morning when you can clearly see your clothes, shoes and accessories.

“Self awareness is the key to self mastery” by checking in as often as possible we begin to recognise our strengths, weaknesses, motivations and feelings. As a result of this, we tend to make better decisions that help us make progress towards our goals.
There’s no denying that life is crazy busy. With so much going on it’s only normal that from time to time aspects of our life will take a hit. More often than not, we prioritise tasks to please others and looking after ourselves is pushed to the back-burner. When it’s been a while since we […]
We love our yoga here at Keep it Cleaner but it hasn’t always been that way. When Steph and Laura first started practising yoga, they both really struggled! Because Laura is a runner, she tends to have quite tight hips and struggles with flexibility. And when Steph first started, she found it a little overwhelming […]
