I want to start off by saying please don’t feel like you HAVE to Kic it while you’re on holiday. For me, I choose to move my body because I WANT to, because it makes me feel strong, energised and eager to explore!
But if you choose not to, that’s totally okay. A holiday is called a break for a reason, you’re literally taking a well deserved breather from the hustle and bustle of reality. The most important thing is that you make time to do whatever makes you happy. Whether that’s relaxing by the pool, exploring new sites, sipping margaritas at sunset or smashing out a workout – remember that you’re the main character on your holiday, you do you!
For me, maintaining some sort of routine while I’m on holiday is really important for my mental health. I know it’s not for everyone, but I thrive off routine, and honestly can feel a little lost without it. But thankfully when I’m on the road, Kic helps me feel at home.
Here’s five ways I Kic it on holiday:
Runners high
This won’t come as a surprise to many of you, but one of my favourite things to do when I’m travelling is put on my runners and go exploring. I’ll use the KICRUN Tracker to log my runs, but it’s not about hitting a certain number of kms, or pace, I’ll listen to my body and run to the beat of how I’m feeling on that particular day.
Pilates in my pyjamas
I love that I can roll out of bed and put on one of Kika’s fiery Pilates classes while I’m in my pyjamas. Starting my day with movement, even if it’s just for 5-10 minutes makes such a difference to my energy and mood.
No equipment, no stress!
I often get creative when it comes to equipment when I’m Kic’ing it on the road. Full water bottles, and let’s be real, wine bottles actually make perfect dumbbells. If I’m staying at a hotel with a gym, I might smash out a strength session, or jump on the treadmill, but honestly I’m pretty happy with a quick Kic session in my room.
Unwind my mind
Is it just me or can travelling get really stressful? When I’m running late on my way to the airport (why does this always happen to me?!) and I feel my heart rate getting a little racey, I’ll pop in my AirPods and listen to a 5-minute Kic meditation to help calm my mind.
Craving a home-cooked meal
I LOVE eating out and trying the local food, but when I’m on longer trips, there will be times when I’ll start to crave a home-cooked meal. The beauty of Kic is that I’m literally carrying a cookbook with over 700 recipes in my pocket! There’s such a variety in recipes that I can always find one that embraces the local produce.
