Motivation dipped? Here’s our tips you’ll actually like.

We get it. Daylight savings has ended, the mornings are darker (and colder), and rolling out of bed to move your body feels harder than before. If your motivation is dipping, know that you’re not alone, and most importantly, this is completely normal.

But there’s good news – showing up for your movement doesn’t have to feel impossible, even when it’s chilly AF. With a little planning and the right mindset, you can keep moving in ways that feel good.

At Kic, we’re all about movement that you love, not movement you feel like you ‘have’ to do. That’s why we’re sharing our four top tips to help you reignite your motivation and keep moving the way that works for you.

1. Plan like a pro the night before

One of the easiest ways to stay consistent with your movement is to make it as simple as possible for your morning self (they’ll thank you for it, promise!). So the night before, try the following:

  • Set out your workout clothes where you’ll see them first thing (bonus points for warming them up on a towel rail!).
  • Pack your gym bag in advance with everything you need – water bottle, towel, headphones, and keys.
  • Plan the specific workout you’re going to do and when you’re going to do it. (Tip: use the schedule function on your Kic planner to set up your workouts for the next day!)

This small but powerful prep routine takes away the “what should I do?” decision in the morning, making it easier to start your day on the right foot (or left foot, if you prefer).

With the Kic app, you’ve got access to a whole library of at-home workouts that require no equipment. You’ll know exactly what to do before even getting out of bed (yes, you can workout in your PJs if that’s your vibe)!

2. Find a workout bestie

Keeping yourself accountable can be tough on solo mornings, but a workout buddy (whether they’re a bestie or someone new) can make all the difference.

  • Knowing someone is relying on you to show up helps you stay consistent.
  • Sharing the workout experience can make it feel more fun, less like a chore.
  • You push each other to keep going when one of you needs a little nudge.

If in-person meet-ups aren’t an option, why not try a virtual buddy? Send each other encouragement over messages or share screenshots of your completed Kic workouts to celebrate your progress together.

3. Choose movement you actually enjoy

Sometimes we fall into the toxic trap of thinking a workout only “counts” if it’s intense. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. If you don’t feel motivated, try asking yourself, “What would I actually enjoy today?”

  • Love dancing? Try one of our dance cardio workouts with Kath!
  • Prefer something gentle? Yoga or one of our stretch Pilates classes could be your vibe.
  • Want to clear your head outside? Go for a hot girl walk in the fresh air!

Whether it’s strength training, yoga, meditation, or dance – find something that sparks joy. The more you move in ways you love, the easier it is to show up regularly.

4. Remember your ‘why’

Motivation can dwindle when you focus solely on the “how” of movement. Instead, take a step back and reconnect with your “why.”

What’s your reason for moving your body? Is it to feel stronger? Less stressed? More confident? Focus on that feeling. When you remember why you want to move, it makes showing up feel meaningful, rather than something you “have to” do.

One of our Kic community members, Jen, shared how finding her ‘why’ completely shifted her mindset for the better. “I know my ‘why’ is to better myself, to get fitter and stronger, and to feel good heading into a new day. That self-talk makes mornings so much easier.”

Our biggest tip – make sure your ‘why’ isn’t connected to an aesthetic goal. It’s not about how you look, it’s about how you feel.

At Kic, we’re here to support you every step of the way. From at-home workouts to expert motivation tips, our app makes it easier to stick with movement you love.
