Meet Mills: Our new Hybrid trainer

We sit down with our expert hybrid trainer Mills to learn about her journey to Kic, outlook on life and the power of mindful movement.

What was your journey into the fitness industry?

Funnily enough, horse riding was my gateway to fitness. I rode for 18 years and it as my entire identity, so when I decided to hang up my hat, my mental health took a hit. That’s when I discovered the gym.

Through strength training, I felt grounded, calm and strong – something I hadn’t felt since riding. Over time, I realised I wanted to help others experience those same benefits of movement.

Now I’m a qualified personal trainer with a focus on women’s fitness and mental health exercise coaching. Nothing makes me happier than helping women feel strong—mentally, physically—through movement.

What do you love most about working in the fitness industry?

That there’s a place for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner or an athlete, everyone is trying to improve themselves in some way. just trying to optimise our lives in some way.

I also love seeing people discover movement movement can be a form of self-care, not punishment.

How does it feel to be part of Kic?

It honestly feels surreal! I’ve followed Steph and Kic since the early days, so when Kic reached out, it felt like a pinch-me moment.

As a brand that that’s all about meeting women where they’re at and helping them build confidence through movement—without the pressure or perfectionism—is very aligned to my own values, so it feels like the perfect alignment.

What’s something about the current fitness landscape you’d love to see change?

That everyone has ‘one’ type of movement they should stick to to be good at. Personally, I think the beauty of movement is all the different forms it can take, so why not try a range. Moving in different ways doesn’t mean you’re inconsistent or less committed, it just means you’re just curious and adaptable. Hence why I love hybrid.
