Laura’s at-work wellness hacks

Meditation – I know, I know, you’re probably thinking where on earth am I going to meditate at work? If you can find a spare room in the office that’s fab, otherwise I also duck out to my car when I am feeling stressed and work on my breathing exercises! And honestly, sometimes even the office toilets (yes, I honestly do!). My go-to’s are “Everyday Appreciation” or “Letting go of anxiety” which are only 5 minutes.

Lunchtime Breaks – Most of us have at least half an hour for our lunch breaks and let’s be honest, if you’re anything like me I am always eating my lunch at my desk! I always encourage the Kic team to please, PLEASE make the most of their break by enjoying their lunch outside of the office and even a nice walk just to get the body moving.

Pilates or Yoga at work? Yes please! Making time for short, sweet and sometimes, sweaty movements during my day is such a good way to boost my energy and mental clarity. We’re lucky to have a studio here at our office, but the beauty of Kic is you can literally Kic it anywhere. Perhaps there’s an empty boardroom or a park across the road. Even the smallest movements can help you through the afternoon slump. A few of my at-work favourite Pilates masterclasses are our 10 minute “Release Expectation & Flow” or our 15 minute “Advanced Core Barre”.

Walk and Talk – When I have days of back-to-back meetings, I am all about a walking meeting! Whether it’s a one-on-one catch up with a team mate, or jumping on a call, it makes such a difference getting outside for some fresh air! Even when it’s cold, I’ll often rug up and have my meetings towards the end of the day outside on our balcony.

Mental well-being – Ok, so this is a huge one for me. I can definitely say with confidence my stress levels have decreased – sometimes you just need that mental breather! I find I am more relaxed and able to concentrate when I return to my desk, and I am not so overwhelmed by my tasks!
