With the help of KIC, Lynette has transformed her connection with her mind and body. Before starting with KIC she found herself in a vicious cycle of sporadic exercise, negative self-talk and struggling to be kind to herself. This time in her life left her feeling burnt out, exhausted and low in confidence.
Feeling tired of the cycle she found herself in, Lynette was determined to take back control of her health and wellness and re-ignite her sense of self-worth. Cue her discovery of KIC.
As soon as she joined KIC, Lynette re-set her exercise and self-care habits and was able to make her physical and mental wellbeing a consistent priority. Her perspective on exercise changed from being a punishment, to something that is fun and makes her feel good.
Lynette has come to realise that exercise is actually about celebrating what her body can do. With the help of KIC she has gained clarity on what constitutes healthy living for her.
Here’s how Lynette’s day in the life looks like with KIC!
The KIC Minis
Simple, quick, and efficient. I love the Yin Yoga minis to start off my day with a gentle stretch or to get myself moving when I’ve been stuck at the home office desk all day with my butt glued to a chair! If I’m feeling particularly restless or need to release some energy, I’ll throw on a workout mini like Brooke’s HIIT mini.
The meditations
I like to start my day with a gratitude or self-love meditation. I find it helps me get into a good mindset for the rest of the day. I also almost always go to bed with a sleep meditation which I usually fall asleep during and helps me to sleep like a log for the rest of the night. Incorporating meditations into my routine helps me feel calm, centred and present.
The workouts
I’ll normally do a workout after my work day because I find I have a lot more energy in the afternoon. I personally love following the masterclasses because you’re given really good, clear instructions from the trainers. The trainers also share handy tips and reminders on what you should focus on and motivate you throughout the entire workout. It’s like working out with a virtual friend. My go-to trainer is Leo, he has such a good energy in every single one of his Bootcamp and Power Pilates classes. He is so positive, motivating and I just love his accent (he’s British!).
The recipes
The KIC snack recipes are my favourite and help to keep my energy up throughout my work day. They’re so quick and easy to make and you can make decent portions so there’s always left overs for later, or in my case, for the rest of my family to steal! I really like the Blueberry and Oat Bars recipe, or the Choc Chip Blondies. Pair that with one of the smoothie recipes like the Peanut Butter smoothie and you’ve got snack heaven.
The KICPOD
As I work from home, I go on a lot of walks. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I’m always accompanied by Steph and Laura as I listen to them on the KICPOD. It’s so great having a giggle alongside them or to listen to some really inspirational, thought-provoking conversations with their guest speakers.
Thanks to KIC, I am now so much better at prioritising my physical and mental wellbeing. I’ve always struggled with the feeling of not being enough, particularly around what my body looks like. To be honest, it’s still something I struggle with and especially before KIC, I didn’t really like, let alone love myself. I was however able to realise that these thought patterns were not healthy at all and that’s what triggered the start of my journey with KIC.
Looking back, I’ve realised how far I’ve come. As I’ve completed KIC workouts, the stronger and more capable I have felt. As I’ve listened to the trainer’s encouragement, the more I have believed their words and in myself and as I’ve seen the uplifting and celebratory community posts, the more I have accepted and appreciated myself.
Over time, I have slowly started to trust myself again and focus less on how I look and more on how I feel. I’ve put less emphasis on my fears and worries and more on what makes me feel good. It’s definitely still a journey for me, but I’m forever grateful to KIC for creating a safe space to build myself up, to learn what I am capable of and to give me clarity on what sustainable and positive health and wellbeing can be.
I’m also grateful to have found the KIC community. With the KIC community you are never alone. You immediately have a strong connection with each other and are a part of something that is bigger than yourself. It’s empowering and comforting knowing that the KIC community is all in this together, sweating it out, celebrating each other and embracing our unique differences
