Oats are one of our favourite breakfast meals, and here’s why:

  • They’re full of carbohydrates to help energise our mornings;

  • They can be topped with almost anything! From fresh or frozen fruit, to nuts and/or seeds to honey or maple syrup – you can enjoy them with whatever tickles your fancy; and
  • You can enjoy them cold in summer as overnight oats or warm in winter off the stove!

So with this said, we thought we’d share with you one of our favourite winter porridge recipes, perfect to keep you warm and fuelled on those colder mornings.

Ingredients

45g rolled oats
125ml almond milk
1tsp honey
1tsp cinnamon
1 apple
20g walnuts

Method

Step 1

Chop walnuts and set aside. Grate or finely chop the apple.

Step 2

Place oats, almond milk and cinnamon into a pot and bring to the boil. Simmer gently while the porridge thickens and the milk is absorbed.

Step 3

Stir in the honey and half of your prepared apple. Transfer into a bowl and top with your remaining apple and walnuts and enjoy!
