If you’re feeling stressed at the moment, know that you’re not alone! This can be such a busy time of year for everyone. Between jam-packed social calendars, holiday activities and work wrapping up, there can be many different priorities pulling you in all directions at the moment.
Just know that here at Kic, we’ve got your back. It’s important during these busy times to take a moment and check in with yourself.
This time of year can be stressful, so here are four tips to make time for you in the lead up to the holiday break:
Wake up 15 minutes earlier
Busy day ahead? Set your alarm a little earlier so you can make more time for you. An extra 15 minutes in your day can do you a world of wonders! Maybe roll out of bed and do a 15 min Pilates class. We love the restoring full body flow with Christina.
Otherwise spending your extra time meditating or journaling can be a great way to check in with you mind before you set off on a busy day.
Walking meditation
Feeling like your mind won’t stop racing on your morning walk? Try a walking meditation! Listening to one of our affirmations or meditations on the Kic app whilst you walk is a great way to combine mindfulness with your movement.
Step away from your desk
With end of year deadlines looming, we can often lose track of time when we’re working at our desks for long periods. Pop a reminder in your calendar to move away from your desk every so often throughout your day. Maybe grab a coffee, go for a lap around the block or pop outside for some fresh air.
Don’t be afraid to say ‘no’
Overcommitting to social events at this time of year can be something that happens to the best of us! Don’t be afraid to politely decline invitations when you need to. Your mental health is so important, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed it’s important to speak up and set yourself healthy boundaries. Steph’s favourite quote from Dr Seuss couldn’t be more relevant at this time of the year “The people that mind don’t matter, and the people that matter don’t mind.”
Your mental health is your number one priority. Do what you need to do to fill your cup first. It can feel like such a race to the finish line at this time of year, so take your time and remind yourself that you’re doing the best that you can!
We know you’ve got this.
